  • 8 ounces spaghetti
For the Meat
  • 1 pound ground beef can substitute with ground turkey or crumbled tofu
For the Sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce light soy sauce preferred
  • 1 teaspoon chili oil adjust to heat preference
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar can substitute with honey or maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar can substitute with apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil add at the end for aroma
For the Garnish
  • 2 scallions green onions chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds optional

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Reserve 1/4 cup of pasta water and drain the spaghetti.
  2. In a skillet or wok, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, breaking it into chunks. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Lower the heat and add garlic and ginger to the skillet. Stir and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in soy sauce, chili oil, brown sugar, and rice vinegar. Stir until sugar dissolves and let simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss gently to coat the pasta in sauce. If dry, add reserved pasta water gradually.
  6. Turn off heat, drizzle with sesame oil, and mix well. Toss in green onions and sprinkle with sesame seeds if using.
