Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. In another bowl, mix unsweetened applesauce, milk, melted butter or oil, vanilla extract, and grated carrot until combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently to combine.

  6. Mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, and chopped walnuts or pecans, then sprinkle over the batter.
