  • 1 can Strawberry Pie Filling Fresh strawberries can be used as a substitute.
For the Cream Filling
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese Dairy-free cream cheese may be used for a vegan version.
  • 1 pkg Instant Vanilla Pudding Banana pudding can be swapped in for variation.
  • 1 cup Whole Milk Almond milk can be used as a dairy-free substitute.
For the Topping
  • 1 container Cool Whip Homemade whipped cream is also a good alternative.
  • 1/4 cup Sliced Almonds Optional as a garnish; substitute with other nuts if desired.

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Prepare Angel Food Cake: Mix the cake mix with water and beat on high for 2 minutes. Bake at 350°F for 30-35 minutes until golden. Cool completely.
  2. Cube Cake: Cut cooled angel food cake into 1-inch cubes and layer half in a 9x9 inch baking dish.
  3. Layer Strawberry Pie Filling: Spread 2/3 of the strawberry pie filling over the first layer of cake cubes.
  4. Add Remaining Cake Cubes: Place remaining cake cubes on top of the strawberry filling to form a second layer.
  5. Prepare Cream Cheese Mixture: Blend cream cheese until smooth, then add pudding mix and milk. Mix until thick.
  6. Pour Cream Cheese Mixture: Spread cream cheese mixture over the layered cake and strawberry filling.
  7. Chill: Cover and refrigerate for 3-4 hours or overnight to let flavors meld.
  8. Top with Cool Whip: Spread remaining Cool Whip over the top and drizzle with leftover pie filling and sliced almonds.
  9. Serve Chilled: Slice and serve cold for a refreshing dessert experience.
