Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium pot, pour 4 cups of vegetable broth or water and bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  2. Once simmering, add around 2 tablespoons of finely grated fresh ginger, and if desired, toss in 1-2 cloves of minced garlic. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes.
  3. Reduce heat to low and add 2-3 tablespoons of miso paste to the pot. Stir well until it fully dissolves.
  4. Just before serving, squeeze the juice of one fresh lemon into the pot, stirring gently to combine.
  5. Carefully ladle the warm broth into soup mugs, optionally garnish with freshly chopped herbs.
