  • 2 cans solid white tuna drained
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs gluten-free optional
  • 3 green onions finely chopped
  • 1 medium red bell pepper finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger grated
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce tamari for gluten-free
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil optional
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil for frying
For the Spicy Mayo
  • ½ cup mayonnaise vegan option available
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce adjust for spice preference
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice fresh recommended
  • a pinch salt

Method
 

Preparation and Cooking
  1. Gather all your ingredients for the Asian-Style Tuna Cakes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine tuna, panko, green onions, red bell pepper, garlic, ginger, egg, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Divide the tuna mixture into 8 portions and form into patties, about ½ inch thick.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Fry patties for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden-brown.
  6. Transfer patties to paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, sriracha, lime juice, and salt until blended.
  8. Serve tuna cakes with spicy mayo on the side.
